DR RUPAK SAHA

Rupak joined the practice as a full-time partner on 1st October 2005, having been a registrar with the practice until September 2005. Rupak has completed his MRCP and has a clinical interest in Cardiovascular diseases, having trained as a GP with Special Interests in Cardiology. Rupak the lead GP in the Practice for Quality Improvement and the Quality and Outcomes framework. Rupak is our Caldicott Guardian. Rupak became senior partner on 1st January 2017.
DR ALEX JM DOCTON
MB BS (Newcastle) MRCGP
Alex joined the practice on 1st April 2007. Previously, he has been a partner in a Practice in the North East. Alex is a GP Appraiser. Alex has an interest in Drug and Alcohol misuse services. Alex is the lead GP in the Practice for CQC compliance, Respiratory disease and mental health.
DR ANKE K SELBMANN

Anke also joined the practice on 1st April 2007, having been a salaried GP elsewhere in Carlisle. Anke was a registrar at the Practice during her training and has a special interest in women’s health. Anke is the lead GP in the Practice for women's and sexual health as well has having a safeguarding role in the Practice. She is our Prevent Lead and also takes responsibility for our vulnerable patients.
DR ELENA SAW

Elena joined us in April 2012, having trained with us as a GP Registrar. Elena became a partner on 1st April 2013. Elena has a background in general surgery and performs minor operations at the Practice. Elena is a GP Trainer, and is our lead GP in the Practice for Clinical Governance, Diabetes and Epilepsy.
DR BARRY WRIGHT

Barry was originally and GP Registrar with the Practice and went on to join the practice as a Salaried GP in October 2014. He then became a Partner April 2017. Barry has a lead role in Prescribing, Safeguarding, and Clinical Guidelines.
DR HELEN MCNALLY

Helen joined us in July 2013, having previously been a GP Registrar with the Practice. Helen had worked in the North East for a while after qualifying. Helen has an interest in women's health, Learning Disabilities and is the practice Vaccinations lead GP.

Emma joined the Practice in August 2020 as a Salaried GP. Emma has previously trained with the Practice and we are delighted she has decided to remain with the team here. Emma has an interest in sexual and contraceptive health in primary care.

We are delighted that Katie joined us in August 2021 as a Salaried GP, having previously trained as a registrar with the Practice. We're really happy Katie decided to choose Spencer Street Surgery to work with! Katie has an interest in palliative care.

I joined Spencer Street Surgery in June 2024, bringing with me 14 years of diverse experience in healthcare, including 7 years working in hospital settings and another 7 years with the ambulance service in Carlisle. During my time in emergency services, I had the privilege of providing care across the challenging and dynamic Cumbria region. I hold a bachelor`s degree and am now enthusiastically expanding my expertise in primary care, which I find both inspiring and deeply rewarding. My focus is on making a positive impact on patient`s lives and contributing to the continuous improvement of the GP practice. I am committed to delivering high quality patient care and supporting the wellbeing of the community I serve.

NURSE JUDITH
Judith joined Spencer Street Surgery in 2001 and is our Nursing Team Manager. She works with the Partners and the Nursing team to help us to offer the best service possible for our patients. As well as providing general nursing care, Judith has undertaken further specialist training in providing care for patients with diabetes and heart failure. Judith is a qualified nurse prescriber.
NURSE SUE
Sue joined the practice as a Practice nurse in November 2003. As well as general practice nursing care, Sue has a special interest in respiratory disease, and has trained further in the specialist fields of asthma and COPD. Sue is a qualified Nurse Prescriber.
NURSE VICTORIA
Victoria joined Spencer Street Surgery as a Practice Nurse in May 2018, having previously worked in the Intensive Care Unit at Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle. Victoria has a special interest in diabetes management.

SHONA CAREY
Shona is our healthcare assistant. She started at the Practice in 2007. She works closely with the Practice Nursing team providing pre-clinic checks for chronic disease monitoring, as well as administering vaccinations including B12, flu, shingles and pneumonia, blood tests and general practice nursing support.
LISA OLDHAM
Lisa is a healthcare assistant who works closely with the Practice Nurses and provides support to the nurses and GP's. Lisa's duties include NHS health checks, chronic disease pre-clinic tests, lifestyle and general health advice and general healthcare assistant duties. She is trained in administering vaccinations including B12, shingles, flu and pneumonia.

Managing Partner
Julie joined the practice in 1989 and holds dual qualifications in Primary Healthcare Management and AMSPAR via Newcastle Business School, Level 5 Institute of Learning and Management (ILM5) and also has qualifications as Association of Accountancy Technicians (AAT). Julie became Managing Partner in 2011. Julie is responsible for the day to day running and overall management of the Practice in conjunction with her Partners and supportive team.
KELLIE MILLER
Kellie is our Deputy Practice Manager. Kellie deputises for the Managing Partner in her absence and leads the Operations, HR and IT roles within the Practice.
Reception Management
SONYA HOWE
Sonya is our Reception Manager. She works closely with the Lead Administrator and Deputy Practice Manager, as well as her reception team to ensure the reception area functions efficiently and effectively.
Patient Services
JEMMA EVANS
Jemma is our Patient Services Manager. She works closely with the Management Team on Patient safety/complaints and incidents. Jemma also provides support to our admin and reception teams as required. Jemma is currently on Maternity Leave.

MANDY KEELING
Mandy is our Lead for Medicines Management in the practice. She works closely with the GPs, reception & pharmacy teams, PCN teams and Deputy Practice Manager.
LOUISE CARSON
Louise is our Lead for the Administration Team. She works closely with her team and the Deputy Practice Manager to ensure all admin functions operate effectively.
